Announcing the 2022 Economic Inequality Co-Lab Cohort

During the six-week program, participants will benefit from a peer support community, virtual workshops, and Uncharted’s tested curriculum.

DENVER, COLORADO. February 2nd, 2022 — Today Uncharted announced the Economic Inequality Co-Lab, a six-week program to support dozens of early-stage ventures tackling economic inequality in the U.S. The cohort was selected from the pool of 344 applicants from the Economic Inequality Initiative in an effort to democratize access to Uncharted’s proprietary curriculum, interactive workshops, and peer support community. At the end of the program, ventures will be prepared to apply to Uncharted’s signature Economic Inequality Initiative, or a similar accelerator program.

Economic inequality is the greatest threat facing the United States today. People in middle-and-lower classes—particularly women, people of color, and young people—have seen their collective wealth shrink by 20% in the last several decades. Meanwhile, wealthy families have grown their wealth at record rates. In the pandemic alone, billionaires’ fortunes grew by an average of 62%.

Uncharted is dedicated to supporting early-stage innovators tackling economic inequality, especially those at the very early stages who have lived experiences. “There are a lot of individuals out there with systemic change ideas who lack the peer support needed to transform their startup journey,” says Uncharted’s Portfolio Manager, Sara Lee Wolfe García. “The Economic Inequality Co-Lab is forming a new powerful community where early stage ventures working on closing wealth gaps can come together to learn, collaborate, and receive resources to make significant progress on their ideas” says Cristina Lara-Agudelo, Program Manager.

The selected ventures from around the U.S. are closing wealth gaps through housing, workforce development, finance, and more. You can meet the cohort on the Economic Inequality Co-Lab web page.

The Economic Inequality Co-Lab is supported by several private individuals and foundations, including the Cielo Foundation and the Techstars Foundation. ABOUT UNCHARTED

Uncharted is a social impact accelerator that supports early-stage ventures tackling economic inequality in the United States. Our programs are fixed-term, cohort-based, and mentorship-driven. They are open to social ventures, nonprofits, movement builders, advocacy organizations, coalitions, and hybrid models.

Uncharted's results are exponential—for every $1 in funding we receive, our ventures generate $8.12 within two years, funding that they attribute directly to Uncharted’s support. For over ten years, we’ve backed early-stage ventures with audacious goals. Equipping them to challenge the status quo is what we do best.
